COURSE OUTLINE

Course Title: Skin Care 600 Hours

COURSE DESCRIPTION: The objective of the Skin Care program is to train students in theory and practical experiences, which will prepare them for entry level employment positions.  The course is geared towards developing good work habits and attitudes with respect to safety & sanitation, business ethics, and encourages self reliance, and a willingness to help others look their personal best.

 

COURSE GOALS:

1.  Students will receive training in both theory and practical subjects and gain knowledge in all phases of Skin Care.

2.  To prepare students to successfully pass the New Jersey State Board Examinations.

3.  To prepare students to work in a professional salon or related field.

4.  To develop employer/employee relationships and effective communications.

 

STUDENT CLASSIFICATION:

Junior 1-300 hours

Senior 300-600 hours

 

COURSE FORMAT:

1.     Lectures & Demonstrations

2.     Practical workshop

3.     Audio-visual materials

4.     Illustrations

5.     Written & Practical evaluations

 

EVALUATION PROCEDURES:

1.     Testing in both theory, practical, and clinic areas

2.     Examination after each unit of the course

3.     Monthly Theory, Practical, Clinic Progress Reports

4.     Final examination

 

REQUIRED LEVEL OF ACHIEVEMENT:

All students are required to maintain at least a 75% grade point average in theory, practical, and clinic subjects in order to be eligible to receive a Diploma of Completion.

Students are required to wear a school uniform, white shirt, white pants and white shoes.

Students are required to report to class each day with a notebook, pen, textbooks and complete Skin Care Kit.

Independent reading is strongly recommended.
